Our goals
- Strengthen communication among those interested in architecture and urbanism.
- Spread awareness of the architecture of Makkah and the holy sites.
- Develop community participation to promote Makkah's architecture.
- Encourage and motivate architecture and urban design students.
LEADERSHIP
Eng. Mohammed Burhan Saifuddin
Chairman of the Board
Chairman of the Board and Co-founder of Omraniyoon and Partners for Engineering Consultancy, and a practicing professional. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Urban Engineering and has a keen interest in Makkah’s heritage, earned from King Abdulaziz University in Makkah in Urban and Regional Planning. He has made extensive contributions to urban planning and service development in Makkah.
He took part in preparing the structural plan for informal (unplanned) settlement areas, and also took part in preparing the structural plan for the Makkah Gate project. Through Omraniyoon Engineering Consultancy, he has led numerous efforts and committees in Makkah to serve and organize the Hajj and Umrah sector and align it with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
- BSc in Urban and Regional Planning Engineering, King Abdulaziz University
- Contributed to the structural plan for informal areas in Makkah
- Contributed to the structural plan for the Makkah Gate project

Four initiatives shaping Makkah's built environment
SECOND EDITION
Umran Meetup
Exploring and developing Saudi architectural practice: analysing local urban identity, extracting its patterns and merging them with contemporary practice. Design studios give architects an interactive space to generate ideas, critique projects and exchange professional experience.
STRATEGIC GOAL
Building a knowledge reference that raises the quality of architectural output committed to Saudi identity.
DESIGN MARATHON
Archeathon
An intensive design-and-build marathon that brings innovators together to deliver fast, buildable spatial solutions. It focuses on shared urban spaces in Makkah to improve the public realm, raise quality of life and make walking easier.
STRATEGIC GOAL
Turning urban ideas into tangible interventions the community feels directly and immediately.

Munir Sindi Award for Architects
An award for architects named after the late Munir Sindi, may God have mercy on him. Its fifth cycle takes place in 2026.

A STRATEGIC INITIATIVE OF THE SOCIETY
Umran Makkah: Visual Podcast
Documenting the urban identity of the holy city through a visual, contemporary lens. Each episode pairs an expert telling a documented story with visual material such as archival footage, plans and fine urban details, in a short digital format built to spread quickly and spark interaction on social platforms.
